Project PrOpSys

The automatic assembly of optical packages has accumulated needs compared to other industrial divisions. The partners in this industry project have concrete demands to an automatic assembly station which shall replace the manual assembly. First of all a demonstrator with assembly platform, positioning unit, optical measurement technique and fixation possibility is conceptually designed and constructed.

The automation concept will be applied to a special package, consisting of mounted laser bars, highly precise collimation and beam shaping optics and a fiber coupling. However, the concept is generally valid and can be transferred to other divisions of micro optical production technology.

Essential work of the Fraunhofer IZM:

• Development of system specific components for the demonstrator system
• Assembly of micro optics and fixation technology
• Optical characterization
• Reliability testing and analysis of error
