Competencies and Tasks
Bernd Stube studied mathematics at the Technical University of Dresden from 1979 to 1984. Afterwards he worked as research associate at the Karl-Weierstraß-Institute for Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences in the field of placement and routing algorithms for VLSI Design.
From 1992 to 2006, he worked at the Society for Promotion of Applied Computer Sciences (GFaI) and the spin off subsidiary WIDIS GmbH, respectively. After initial projects in Computer Aided Schematics, his focus shifted to the development of innovative EDA (Electronic Design Automation) layout tools for PCB and system design which became the focal point of his work.
Early 2007, his project team moved from GFaI to Mentor Graphics – the world leader in EDA products for PCB design. Until 2010, he managed the development team in Berlin which in close collaboration with some US Mentor colleagues created a ground-breaking tool for quick pre-layout analysis.
Since 2011, he is responsible for EDA tool development at the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM).
