Messe Nürnberg / March 11, 2025 - March 13, 2025
Fraunhofer IZM at the embedded world
Booth/Hall: t.b.a.
Booth/Hall: t.b.a.
embedded world will be coming to Nuremberg from 9 to 11 April 2024. At the world's premier expo for embedded systems, Fraunhofer IZM will be presenting its newest research into sensor packaging, sensor development, and sensor networks at a joint Fraunhofer booth.
Fraunhofer IZM presents energy-efficient solutions for electronic systems - demonstrated using the example of plug & play sensor platforms that can be used to quickly test and validate wireless and radar sensor concepts.
Meet our experts from the RF & Smart Sensor Systems department to share news and experiences.
We look forward to your visit!
Energy efficiency and eco-friendly hardware design plays a key role in the development and creation of modern electronic systems. For years, Fraunhofer IZM has been a leader in the development of embedded systems and autonomous sensor nodes for applications in energy technology, industry and infrastructure monitoring. Energy efficiency is a central requirement element here.
The knowledge gained in the process of achieving optimum performance with minimum energy requirements is now needed for the design of the hardware infrastructure required to keep digitalization of our industry and economy going. Sensors, gateways, radio stations, repeaters and servers are often in operation 24/7, and now contribute significantly to Germany's total electrical energy requirements.
The R3S department at Fraunhofer IZM is a reliable partner for designing optimum energy management solutions for highly miniaturized sensor systems and minimizing their power hunger. From system characterization to energy-efficient hardware designs and energy-optimized firmware designs, our clients benefit from having us as their go-to source for years of experience and expertise in the field. The IZM team can model and parameterize the entire energy conversion chain from the source to processing and intermediate storage or variable load management.
Fraunhofer IZM is part of the »Green ICT @ FMD« competence center. Together with the project partners, we are evaluating sustainability aspects of electronic products and ICT infrastructures in the BMBF-funded project. https://greenict.de/en/
Fraunhofer IZM has developed two plug & play platforms, designed to quickly test and validate concepts for wireless and radar sensor technology. This removes the need for a separate and time-consuming configuration of the sensor and data processing technology, because both kits come with uniform interfaces and a configuration process, modules, and assemblies designed according to the Lego principle.
The sensor-actuator platform »SWARMY« enables modular sensor setups for a variety of common variables to acquire, process, and display data. The platform was designed for use in industrial environments.
A universal radar platform for 24, 60, and 79 GHz applications is also available for the efficient implementation of radar projects. It covers ranges from 0.1 to 260 meters with angular resolutions of less than 10°.
