The Smart Country Convention (SCCON 2022) is a platform for sustainability and innovation in public administration and services of general interest. The free convention will take place from October 18-20, 2022 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Participants from the digital economy, science, associations and public administration will meet at the largest digitalization trade fair in Germany for e-government and smart cities. In addition to already hotly debated topics such as OZG-implementation (Online Access Act), IT security and consolidation and digital sovereignty, this year's focus will also be on innovative procurement, open data, GAIA-X and cloud.

Fraunhofer IZM at SCCON

Fraunhofer IZM is presenting itself at SCCON at a joint stand of the Fraunhofer ICT Group, which bundles the offerings of a total of 21 institutes in this field. The focus of IZM's presentation is the successfully completed Fraunhofer lead project ZEPOWEL, in which nine Fraunhofer institutes have shown how sensor systems can consume extremely little electricity or function completely autonomously and can thus save up to 20 percent of carbon dioxide emissions nationwide.

At SCCON, the joint results will be demonstrated on two market segments of the Internet of Things: Smart Cities and Smart Fabrication. For one thing, with a self-sufficient sensor node for a smart city that monitors air quality in a very energy-efficient way and collects environmental data in real time. For another thing, with an IoT node for networked production that can record and control the operating status of machines, motors or pumps in order to drastically reduce their energy requirements, especially with regard to idle times.
