For the third time Fraunhofer IZM together with VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau - German Engineering Federation) and Messe München organized a Special Show for Productronica, Europe's biggest trade fair for innovative electronics production.

Under the motto "new technologies and extreme environments" the special show "Automotive electronics" presented the current challenges for electronics in cars and mobile large-scale machines. Four technological trends provide solutions for automotive electronics' demands: Power electronics leads to more efficiency. Ever shrinking and more powerful sensors open up new functionalities. Compact high-power LEDs lower the hunger for energy in lighting and allow for new design elements. With flexible electronics body and interior can be designed in completely different ways, e.g. the center console becomes touch-sensitive.

Along the topic corners, power electronics”, “sensors”, “reliability” and “interior design / LEDs”. nine companies presented electronic products, test systems, dedicated production equipment as well as numerous software solutions – including “Industry 4.0”.
