Which paths will be followed in the future in photonics? And which technologies require IoT and big data applications, medical technology and lighting?

To discuss these issues, more than 150 CEOs and CTOs gathered at the World Photonics Technology Summit in Berlin on August 29 and 30. As a first highlight, more than 40 delegates visited the Fraunhofer Institutes HHI and IZM. Director Prof. Klaus-Dieter Lang gave the experts a technical overview and invited them to a special kind of laboratory tour. Here, the participants were able to take a look into the future of photonic system integration: From system on chip to LiDAR modules to the high performance computing or LED packaging on panel size.
