Application of flex technology in miniaturized low-power IoT-nodes
The increasing interconnection between the physical and digital worlds through the Internet of Things (IoT) is opening up numerous new solutions for automating processes that were inconceivable with previous classical concepts. The Internet of Things has the potential to be a disruptive technology and is fundamentally changing established processes and products in industry. Despite the positive development of many technologies that are crucial for its successful deployment, the Internet of Things has not yet achieved the decisive breakthrough. The bottleneck in this positive development continues to be the hardware platforms. This is where the IoT platform ZEPOWEL, short for "Zero Power Electronics", comes in
The session will walk through the development process of a hardware with rigid-flex technology based on a real example: the development of the IoT platform ZEPOWEL. With its rigid-flex PCB the hardware reflects the modularity and flexibility of the platform. The presentation will highlight the process from system conception via hardware development to the finished platform and highlights the benefits and challenges associated with Flex technology.
