Cooperation of TU-Berlin and Fraunhofer IZM
The Research Field Microperipheric Technologies at the Technische Universität Berlin and the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM cooperate closely.
The expansion of the microelectronic sector at the Technische Universität Berlin led to the setup of the Forschungsschwerpunkt Technologien der Mikroperipherik with ist head Prof. Reichl in 1987, supported by the federal Ministry for Research and Technology and the Berlin Senate.
The successful activities of the Forschungsschwerpunkt Technologien der Mikroperipherik, reflected in the steadily increasing number of research projects and number of employees led to the setup of the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration in 1993, also under the leadership of Prof. Reichl.
The Forschungsschwerpunkt Technologien der Mikroperipherik works in the field of fundamental research. The Fraunhofer Gesellschaft transfers results by applied research to product technologies. Both are working closely with industrial enterprises.
The cooperation of the Forschungsschwerpunkt Technologien der Mikroperipherik of the TU Berlin and the Fraunhofer IZM results in a common use of equipment, facilities and infrastructure and the cooperation in research projects.
